✮ ROKKU ✮ インスピレーション

 Hello peeps !

Spooky season is almost over again.
But we don't just stop here.

I thought to myself, since SHEIN has so much Y2K stuff to offer right now
and grunge style in particular is making a comeback.
Today let's dedicate ourselves to a small series of inspiration on the topic of "Rokku-Gyaru"

Let's start with what Rokku-Gyaru actually is and what it isn't.
[From my POV, please remember that everyone
is free to interpret this style and create it for themselves.
]

How do I best explain this?
Rokku gyaru is a combination of rock elements and a bit of punk,
grunge combined in gyaru aesthetics.
There are a lot of sub-styles in Gyaru, which sometimes makes it difficult for me,
an old rabbit, to identify everything.
So it's really not that easy to distinguish Goshikku Gyaru from Rokku Gyaru (in my opinion).

As a small rule of thumb you can remember that Goshikku combines the outfits with more gothic elements, while Rokku goes more in a punk-ish direction - I guess?
A lot reminds me of the style of the 80s punk scene with a twist of cuteness.

Please don't hang me for my half-knowledge.

At the end of the day, it's just important that you have fun styling and wearing gyaru styles.

This is what our dear Gyaru Wiki says about “Rokku-Gyaru”

Quote
"Rokku (ロック; Rock) is a sub-style of Gyaru, which incorporates elements of rock, and visual kei.

This is one of the gyaru styles that does not require a tan, and is noticeably different from the standard styles of gyaru for the dramatic change in colour scheme, opting for blacks and dark colours over loud bright prints.

The style takes much of its inspiration from the broad range of alternative fashion found alongside alternative music, making the style a very broad style and allowing for a lot of variation and creativity

 Style Characteristics

 - Hair colour can be absolutely any colour
- Makeup focuses on heavy dark eyes or smokey eyes
- Dark lipsticks are common
- Chokers and cross necklaces are staple accessories
- Lots of crosses, studs, leather and rips in clothing
- Tattoos and piercings are common

 Quote end.

I agree with a few points in the description.
However, I would say that I have never seen a gyaru with a lipstick darker than a medium red.
I would also be a little more careful with hair colors.
Not everything always looks “good”.
What I would agree with is that you could always experiment with extension strands. But here too I wouldn't use every color.

Colors in general should always be used carefully - if you don't want to appear overloaded.

Popular colors and elements in outfits are:

Colors

- black (of course)
- red (bright)
- purple (darker)
- royalblue
- pink
- white in combination with black

Symbols and patterns

 - crosses (right and upside down)
- skulls & bones
- roses
- stars
- leopard print
- stripes
- check pattern / tartan
(- polkadot pattern - sometimes)

 Elements of fashion

- leather jackets
- chokers
- ripped clothing pieces
- studded belts
- fishnet tights and arm warmers
- retro looking aviator glasses
- cross necklace
- checkerboard pattern on cloths
- overknee socks
- chains / chain details
- cone rivets
(on bracelets for example)
- devilhorn cardigans
-don't forget the iconic handcuff-necklace/choker

Shoes
- creepers shoes
- overknee boots
- combatboots
- black leather boots

(( You could also carefully get
inspiration from these styles:
- 80s punk
- emo (?)
- rock (?)
.... ))

I would say that I'll make a "cut" at this point and we'll go into more detail about Rokku Gyaru in the next posts.
I hope you enjoyed this post.

Please let me know what else you would like to know. Or whatever interests you.

A “closer look” at Rokku Gyaru’s fashion and an outfit recreation post are definitely planned.
Do's and Don'ts? - maybe

And finally some inspiration.
But don't worry, I have more I want to show you.

xoxo
